Infinium reaches Coober Pedy

After starting the day just North of Alice Springs, Infinium was able to reach the checkpoint 5 minutes ahead of Nuna 5. Shortly after leaving the checkpoint Michigan was overtaken by Nuon and fell into 3rd place by 20 minutes. Throughout the rest of the morning the team was able to decrease Nuon's lead to 12 min by the next checkpoint, Kulgera. In the afternoon Infinium continued to catch up to Nuna 5 pulling into Cobber Pedy only 5 minutes behind. Tomorrow should be an intense day of racing; if weather holds out the top 3 teams will be crossing at end of timing tomorrow afternoon.

Gosh there are so many
Gosh there are so many crashes this time. I guess it's because teams are running faster and faster, and stability is now as crucial as fuel efficiency. So please please be safe. It looks that our array is more powerful this time, so just be safe. We can beat Nuon!

Their array seems a little
Their array seems a little too 'upside down in gravel' for comfort. Hearsay and speculation is that they are fixing the car.
The array is wrong side up.
The array is wrong side up. Solar panels touching the ground. But it looks fixable. May not work 100%, but I bet they can finish the race.
Oh, no! There's a report
Oh, no! There's a report Solar Team Twente crashed! Driver unhurt. Car heavily damaged. Not clear if they can continue the race. http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2F...
I can confirm, the Dutch team
I can confirm, the Dutch team has crashed (time around 2PM Australian time). They reported a broken front wheel suspension and broken rear wheel suspension. Crash occurred because of a rear flat tire and the wheel broke. They have damage on the lens system but are working to fix it throughout the night to have the car ready to roll tomorrow morning. It looks like the faster 4
It looks like the faster 4 solar cars have passed the Tesla Roadster, which left Darwin a day earlier. Heh, heh, heh.
Stanford! Where's Stanford?
Stanford! Where's Stanford? They must be having problems. They dropped to 16th. They made Tennant Creek, but didn't reach Barrow Creek. Can't find them on the map.

You guys are awesome! You make me proud to be a Wolverine.
MIT has moved up to 4th
MIT has moved up to 4th place! (5th overall.) They reached Kulgera, just north of the border. The Japanese OSU team's Adventure class car leads in that class, and is not quite to Coober Pedy, 4th place overall. According to the GGC map, Principia has overtaken Solar Team Twente. They may be in 6th, possibly 5th. I can't find where Australia's Sunswift ended the day. They made Alice Springs 48 minutes ahead of Principia. Aurora 101 has zoomed up to Alice Springs! 8th place. After a 6 hour accident delay, that is remarkable.
What I hear from Andy at
What I hear from Andy at Principia is that Twente crashed, and is fixing their car. UNSW is still ahead of them, and Aurora is catching up. I'm glad to see Aurora back in the mix, I had heard a rumor they were out of it after their crash.
Tokai made 901 km yesterday.
Tokai made 901 km yesterday. (Wow!) It appears they have reached "Gurendanbo" (Glendambo). They only have 566 km to go. They should reach the end of timing 2:30 - 3:00 pm Adelaide time. http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2F...
